In this article, we’re going to be talking about the top 12 Bass Delay Pedals. However, before we get into that, let’s first talk about what exactly a bass delay pedal is, how it works and how it differs from, let’s say a bass reverb pedal for instance. The Echoplex EP-3 tape echo unit is famous for its deliciously warm, organic modulation and sweet musical voice—a key component to some of the most iconic guitar tones from the ’70s onward. The original EP-3 units, however, are expensive, temperamental, and larger than a VCR. That’s where the EP103 Echoplex Delay comes in.
Dunlop MXR EP103 Echoplex Delay Pedal EP-3I have performed for 50 years as a singer, guitarist and sound engineer. I have owned EP Echoplexes, Roland Space echoes, Univox tape echos, Binson and old Fender Oil can echo units, Butler Stereo Digital delays, and many other analog and digital types of delay units and still do. Many have specific uses and applications - all thatI've owned, I know well. The Dunlop EP103 Echoplex Delay Pedal pretty much nails the old EP-03 sounds without the hassle of running tape nor the associated noise levels that develop over the years from older 'nutz & gutz'. The 4 second delay - Tap Tempo and EP 103 'Aged Tape' option settings are all very nice. It does a very good job replicating the aged tape sounds. If you are an absoulte purist, buy an old and probably beat EP unit, but be sure you'll have man y maintenance hassles that are part and parcle to that beast.
If you want a great way to reproduce most all the sounds and textures the old EP units produced, in a hassle-free, very small footprint unit that is very mobile (pedalboard) - this is your device! BONUS: you won't be paying the ridiculous prices of a vintage machine, either. You'll need to judge for yourself. Having owned 'em all at one time or another, this is an exceptional addition to my sonic arsenal. I don't gig without it. Wish I had it in the 60's.
Yes, I remember the 60's and I WAS there! LOL!Verified purchase: Yes Condition: Pre-owned. Classic SoundIf you're looking for the classic sound of Floyd, Zeppelin, etc. Then this is the pedal for you.
It is exactly the pedal for you.If you're expecting a 'biggly' array of options and sounds, look elsewhere - this is a one-trick pony (although it does that trick really well. The Tap pedal is sold separately and if you are doing more than just playing in your room for yourself, you might as well get that, too. I didn't, and I imagine it would be impossible to play in a band with this pedal, unless the drummer wants you to set the tempo, and you're okay with bending over and screwing around with it until you get it. For the price they could have included that, too.Excellent equipment, great packaging, very sturdy.Verified purchase: Yes Condition: Pre-owned.
